Superintendent Message

Granite City Community Unit School District #9

To the Granite City School District
Parents and Community:

On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to personally welcome everyone back for the 2017- 2018 school year. I hope you are enjoying this nice summer; we are excited about the new school year. I appreciate your correspondence and your response to the messages I’ve sent you this summer about school funding, and our recent cancellation of school due to the Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017.  One of my goals is to continue this regular ongoing communication with you.  This year’s opening day theme with our staff is building connections.  We want to extend that as well to our students, families and community members.

Our staff members are looking forward to working with your student. I am a firm believer the most challenging job in the world is raising young students in today’s society. I praise you for the job you do as parents. Education begins at home, is strengthened in the schools, and supported in the community. Please keep in touch with us in order to create a positive partnership to better serve your child’s education and well-being.

It’s going to be a great school year!

Respectfully,

Mr. James J. Greenwald Ed.S.
