ATTENTION: NO SCHOOL AUGUST 21st 2017

ATTENTION: NO SCHOOL AUGUST 21ST, 2017

Parents and Guardians,

On Monday August 21 there will be a solar eclipse in North America. The critical time for this will be 11:52 AM - 2:47 PM. Scientists indicate this time period will be very dangerous and safety glasses will need to be used when viewing the sun. This will be a major safety issue for the students and I will never put a child in harms way. Thus I am cancelling school now well in advance, for Monday August 21 2017. This will be treated as an emergency day similar to a snow day in the winter. It will be made up at the end of the school year we will by all means give you specifics well before that time. The critical time that concerns me is dismissal when we have no control of students actions looking out a bus window or gazing at the sun walking home. We will still provide some lessons that we had planned about the scientific phenomenon before or after the event. I am fully confident in this decision, its always about the safety of the children. Please call me personally if you have any questions at all.
