Jack Saltich

Jack Saltich is an executive with over 30 years of experience in various high technology areas. Currently, Mr. Saltich is Chairman and CEO of Vitex Systems, a private company that is a technology licensing, materials supplier and engineering services company focusing in the emerging area of flexible displays and flexible electronic products. From July 1999 to August 2005, he served as President, CEO and a Director of Three-Five Systems, Inc., a technology and manufacturing services company that specialized in the design, development, and manufacturing of custom displays, display systems, and was a full service global provider of electronic manufacturing services. The company had manufacturing operations in China, Manila and Malaysia. During his tenure at the company a $50 Million spin-off of Brillian Corp. (NASDAQ:BRLC) was executed. Currently, Brillian, which sells LCD televisions under the brand name of Olevia, has a market capitalization of over $300 Million.

Mr. Saltich currently serves as a Director on four public company boards: Immersion Corp. (IMMR), a company that develops, licenses, and markets haptic technology and products (Haptics is the “technology of touch” that is incorporated in the Microsoft X-Box and Sony Playstation products); Ramtron Corporation (RMTR), a company with a focus on commercialization of ferro-electric memory products; Leadis Technology (LDIS) which designs, develops and markets mixed-signal semiconductors for small panel displays used in mobile handsets and consumer electronic devices; and Atmel Corporation which designs and manufactures a variety of integrated circuit products. Mr. Saltich is also a member of the Technical Advisory Board for DuPont Electronic Materials and the Manufacturing Advisory Board for Cypress Semiconductor.

Over the past 30 years, Mr. Saltich has worked with five different companies in the electronics industry, ranging from the very small to the very large. In each of these career assignments, his primary focus has always been centered on the development of new technologies and the manufacturing and business processes that help bring these technologies quickly and efficiently to the marketplace. Mr. Saltich has extensive experience in Asia working with many Korean, Japanese and Chinese companies as partners, customers and suppliers.

Before joining Three-Five Systems, Mr. Saltich served as Vice President and General Manager of Advanced Micro Devices’ European Electronics Center in Dresden, Germany, beginning in 1996. The Center included a 200mm wafer production facility, a design center and the necessary infrastructure groups required for a stand-alone site. At the time, the initial $2 Billion investment was the single largest investment in the former eastern block state of Saxony, Germany. Today AMD has invested over $5 Billion into the Dresden site and the city has become the microelectronics center of Europe. As part of his efforts in Dresden, Mr. Saltich was instrumental in founding the Dresden International School which in 2007 has over 500 students from 30 different countries enrolled. From 1993 to 1996, he was responsible for establishing AMD’s first 200mm wafer manufacturing facility called Fab 25, in Austin, Texas. As Vice President, he was responsible for all aspects of bringing the advanced silicon microprocessor fabrication facility on-line, including facility design and construction and technology transfer.

From 1991 to 1993, Mr. Saltich served as Executive Vice President of Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) in San Diego, California. He was responsible for all of the company’s semiconductor manufacturing and development groups and overall P&L responsibility for the company.

Mr. Saltich was a Vice President with VLSI Technology, Inc. in San Jose, California, from 1988 to 1991. He was responsible for three diverse operations within the company, including memory products and new technology development, which included technical interface and technology transfer with two alliance partners (Hitachi and Philips), as well as a wafer manufacturing fabrication facility in San Antonio, Texas.

For 17 years, from 1971 to 1988, he was with Motorola, Inc. in both Phoenix, Arizona, and Austin, Texas. Starting as an R & D engineer, Mr. Saltich held a number of engineering and operations management posts culminating in his position as Vice President and Director of the company’s Advanced Product R & D Laboratory from 1986 to 1988. During his tenure at Motorola, Mr. Saltich was awarded six patents for new inventions in the solid state device and process technology areas. He published widely in various prestigious technical journals and spoke at numerous conferences in locations across the world.

Mr. Saltich received both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois. He completed all course work toward a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. In 2002, Mr. Saltich received the distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Illinois. Currently, Mr. Saltich, who has one son and three grandchildren, resides in Paradise Valley, Arizona, with his wife of 42 years, Pamela Catherine (Rozycke) Saltich, a 1964 graduate of GCHS.
