Granite City, Ill., Sept. 14, 2020 – Carpet City assisted with the start of the 2020-21 school year by donating carpet squares to Granite City Community Unit School District #9.
Carpet City provided 400 carpet squares that were distributed to kindergarten students at Prather on Sept. 14. The squares were cut at 18”x18”, and will be used as part of remote learning, which began on Aug. 24.
“The community has been supporting our business for 22 years, so it’s an opportunity for us to give back,” said Manager Jeremy Merz. “The students are missing out with the in-person experience, and I think the kindergarten students will enjoy it and put a smile on their face.”
Carpet City is a family owned business that’s been serving the metro east and surrounding areas for over 20 years. They are located at 4149 Pontoon Road in Granite City, and can be reached at (618) 931-6423.
“Prather Kindergarten Center thanks Carpet City for the generous gift to our students,” said Prather Principal Genie Bratten. “Extra special thanks to Linda Knogl and Carpet City for creating a community partnership that benefits the early childhood students of Granite City.
“During remote instruction, carpet meetings are still being held virtually each day by teachers at Prather. Carpet City has provided a tangible representation for children to use to participate during carpet time lessons. Students can place their carpet square on the floor at home to be an interactive part of their teacher’s carpet meeting.”
