Superintendent Message - Sept. 13, 2021

September 13, 2021

Dear Grigsby Parents/Guardians,

Due to the traffic concerns at Grigsby Intermediate School, Granite City Community Unit School District #9 will adjust traffic flow beginning on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. The changes will affect both arrival and dismissal.

In a collaborative effort with the City of Granite City, we are attempting to reroute traffic to create a safer environment surrounding Grigsby.

New student drop off and pickup dismissal information is listed below, in addition to an attached map providing the new traffic flow.

ARRIVAL (morning drop off)

  • Enter at Cargill Rd.

  • Student drop off at same location

  • Circle drive will NOT be accessible

  • Exit right at Pontoon Rd.

DISMISSAL (afternoon pick up)

  • Enter at Cargill Rd.

  • Parents that arrive early will be forced to park in designated spots

  • Circle drive will NOT be accessible

  • Exit right at Pontoon Rd.

  • There will be no entrance for arrival or dismissal from Pontoon Rd.

  • Crossing guards will remain at Cargill Rd. and Pontoon Rd.

  • Pontoon Rd. exit must turn right

  • Drivers that arrive early for dismissal must park in a designated spot and will not be able to leave until instructed by a police officer.

The health and safety of our students and staff remain our number one concern, in addition to the safety of drivers on Pontoon Road. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Ms. Stephanie M. Cann, Ed.S.
