Message from Superintendent Cann

October 8, 2021

Dear GCSD9 Families,

First, I hope that you have a great three-day weekend and enjoy some down time. I also wanted to thank the City of Granite City for being supportive of our District by acknowledging and recognizing the accomplishments of our many students and groups. The student participants work extremely hard in their sports, activities, and clubs; while the teachers, sponsors and coaches have done a phenomenal job providing support and mentorship.

We are still actively looking to solve the bus driver shortage in the district. We have helped Illinois Central Bus in recruiting efforts through social media, videos, and news coverage. Since the news spotlight yesterday, we have seen an increase in applicants! We hope to get more busses rolling in the following weeks.

I want to remind everyone that if you have a concern or question about the district, please feel free to contact my office by email or phone. It is always helpful to know what needs and issues that families may have throughout the school year. We will do our best to address questions and concerns that are brought to our attention.

Phone: (618) 451-5800
