Every week throughout the 2025-26 school year, Granite City Community School District #9 will be highlighting a staff member for going above and beyond to give students a positive experience.

This week’s staff highlight is Holly Bladdick

Bladdick is a Title teacher at Frohardt Elementary School and has been working in GCSD9 for 15 years.

Where did you go to school?
I graduated from GCHS in 2004, earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from SIUE, and later completed my Master’s Degree in Reading at Greenville University. I’ve always enjoyed learning and growing as an educator.

What inspired you to become a title teacher?
I was inspired to become a Title teacher because I love helping students build confidence and realize they are capable of success. I’ve always had a passion for helping students strengthen their reading skills, because reading is such an important foundation for learning and everyday life.

What does a typical day look like?
A typical day is very busy and fast-paced. I see 11 different groups each day for 25 minutes at a time, so there’s always a lot of hustle and bustle. Every group is different, which keeps the day moving and makes each day unique and rewarding.

What is your favorite memory working as a title teacher?
One of my favorite memories as a Title teacher was when a student confidently told me they didn’t need help sounding out a word because they “already knew it.” They then proceeded to read it completely wrong with total confidence. The best part was how quickly they stopped, looked at me, and said, “Okay… maybe I do need a little help.” We both laughed, and it turned into a really great moment for learning without any embarrassment.

Who do you look up to and why?
I look up to people who are dependable, hardworking, and able to stay positive even when things get busy or stressful.

Hobbies?
Outside of school, I love spending time watching my girls play soccer, staying active, and relaxing by the pool, at the lake, or anywhere near the water. I also enjoy reading and unwinding with a good show whenever I get the chance.
