Staff Spotlight: Tim Mihu, Grigsby
Chris Mitchell

By Brayden Cook '26

Every week throughout the 2025-26 school year, Granite City Community School District #9 will be highlighting a staff member for going above and beyond to give students a positive experience.

This week’s staff highlight is Tim Mihu

Mihu is a paraprofessional at Grigsby Elementary School and has been working in GCSD9 for seven years.

Where did you go to school?
I am a 1980 graduate of Granite City North High School.

What is your favorite part about being a paraprofessional?
In general, it’s just helping the kids with their work. I enjoy when we work in small groups playing an educational game. The kids really enjoy doing that. They like the competitive nature of it.

What is your favorite memory while working in GCSD9?
There’s not one specific memory, but there are the many friendships I’ve made while working for the district.

What is your favorite part about doing traffic duty?
If I had to pick a favorite part it would be when it’s a sunny 70 degree day. That’s a good day to be outside doing traffic. Also, when I get a thank you or acknowledgement from a parent for keeping the traffic moving and the job I’m doing.

Hobbies?
I enjoy camping or glamping as my wife calls it with my family and our two dogs. I also enjoy working on my yard and landscape.
