Welcome to 2024-25 School Year!
Chris Mitchell

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am thrilled to officially welcome you to the new school year as your Superintendent of the Granite City Community School District 9. It is an immense honor to serve this wonderful community and to work collaboratively with all of you to provide our students with an exceptional education.

I believe that every child deserves an exceptional education that empowers them to reach their full potential. Together, we will create a learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

As we embark on this journey together, I want to emphasize my commitment to:

  • Student Success: Our primary focus will be on providing our students with the tools and support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Strong Partnerships: Building strong partnerships with parents, teachers, staff, and the community is essential. Your input and collaboration are invaluable.
  • Educational Excellence: We will strive to create an inclusive and equitable learning environment where every student has the opportunity to excel.
  • Safety and Well-being: The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. We will continue to invest in resources and programs that support a secure and nurturing school climate.

In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to meeting many of you and learning more about your hopes and aspirations for our district. Your involvement is crucial to our shared success.

I encourage you to visit our district website at https://www.gcsd9.net/net for important back-to-school information, including school supply lists, bus routes, and event calendars.

I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for our school district. I want to express my sincere gratitude for your trust and support. I am confident that by working together, we can create a bright future for all our students.

Sincerely,

Donald J. Harris, Ed.D
