Course Selection February 26th - Incoming Freshman (2020-2021) Course Selection Night

Incoming Freshman Course Selection night will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in the high school cafeteria with the following last name breakdowns for time:

5:00-5:30 = A - C

5:30-6:00 = D - G

6:00-6:30 = H - M

6:30-7:00 = N - S

7:00-7:30 = T - Z

No School School Closing Alert

Due to inclement weather, there will be no school on Friday, January 17th, 2020

Late Start *UPDATE* Granite City High School Late Start Mondays will begin on Monday, January 13th.

Monday, January 6th will be a regularly scheduled day and will not be a late start. Late start Mondays will begin on Monday, January 13th.

Remote Learning Days

Build a Remote Learning Plan & Virtual Classroom in One Day

Remote Learning Days begin on Tuesday 3-31-20.
Our plan is in place with our teachers Technological and Manuel lessons and methods,being provided for students and communicated with their families. We are working diligently to add additional strategies to this plan,
as it is our educational plan in place during the Governors period of school closings. We will continue to communicate with you on this topic.

hg On Saturday, the GCHS Marching Warriors competed in the
University of Illinois -

The band had their best performance of the season
earning First Place in Class 5A,

along with the trophy for Best General Effect Performance.
Congratulations Marching Warriors on an awesome show and an incredible marching season!!

Dear Parents
Additional resources for food during the two week closing of school.

Community Care Center 1818 Cleveland Blvd in Granite City will provide food assistance to families in need.... All that is needed is name, physical address but must be located in (Granite City, Madison, Mitchell, Pontoon Beach, and Venice), child’s age, and school.  There will be food baskets delivered as needed...... Please call CCC at 618-876-8770 or send a message on Community Care Center’s Facebook page!
On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday there is lunch served at CCC from 11-12 as well!




The Excellence in Education Grants for Teachers Program Awards $36,500 in Grant Money

The Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation (IRTAF) awards $36,500 in grant money to several public school educators (Pre-K through 12) statewide.  IRTAF is affiliated with the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, a lobbying group for retired educators, with a current membership of over 38,500.  On September 30, 2019, Jennifer Connolly was awarded his/her IRTAF grant check.  Below, you will find more information on the winner, along with his/her school, the amount of the award, IRTA Area.

Prom 2020 Prom Announcement

The 2020 GCHS Prom has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 7 at the Regency Conference Center in O'Fallon, Illinois.  Students who have purchased tickets will receive detailed information at a later time.  Thank you in advance for understanding and working with us to make this event happen.

Are Kindergartners ready

The BND did an article on the recent study that children are not prepared for Kindergarten.  

One of our own Kindergarten classes was in this wonderful article and shows that Granite City is doing a good job at preparing them.  Then the Police Chief Rich Miller did a letter to the Editor talking about our great programs we have in Granite City to Help Education succeed in Our Town.
