Granite City, Illinois is located in Madison County, 15 minutes east from downtown St. Louis. Granite City Community Unit School District #9 is home to 5,900 students and over 500 employees. All our schools are accredited by the North Central Association Commission (NWAC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), the regional accrediting agencies that span the AdvancED global network. GCSD9 has one High School, one Junior High, one Middle School, two 3rd and 4th grade centers, tw0 1st and 2nd grade centers, and one Kindergarten and Early Childhood Center.

SUBSTITUTE LICENSE FEE REFUND REQUEST
The Superintendent or designee shall ensure that a fingerprint-based criminal history records check and a check of the Statewide Sex Offender Database and Violent Offender Against Youth Database is performed on each applicant as required by State law. Each newly hired employee must complete an Immigration and Naturalization Service Form as required by federal law.

The District retains the right to discharge any employee whose criminal background investigation reveals a conviction for committing or attempting to commit any of the offenses outlined in Section 5/21B-80 of the School Code or who falsifies, or omits facts from, his or her employment application or other employment documents. Each new employee must furnish evidence of physical fitness to perform assigned duties and freedom from communicable disease.
