E-Learning

E-LEARNING STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

What is an E-Learning Day?

– E-Learning days allow our students to work from home, avoiding potentially dangerous road conditions or low temperatures
– These days will allow students to continue their education without the loss of curriculum momentum resulting from school cancellations
– E-Learning days are considered a regular school day and will not be added to the calendar at the end of the year

How will I know there is an E-Learning Day and what a student needs to do?
– Through our typical announcements regarding inclement weather days, families will receive notification of an E-Learning Day
– Students will access assignments through their Google Classroom, unless otherwise informed by their teacher(s)
– If students were not able to access the assignments during the E-Learning days, teachers will provide those materials to the student upon their return to school
– Teachers will communicate their expectations and learning activities for that day via-email to parents (PreK-12th grade) and students (7th-12th grade) by 9:30 a.m.

Included information:
• Where assignments and materials can be found
• The anticipated time requirements for an assignment
• Possible due date of assignments (E-Learning day plus one day)

For example, if an E-Learning day is on Monday and students return to school on Tuesday, the assignment is due Wednesday in class

How can my student get help from a teacher?
– Teachers will be available via email and Google Classroom from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
– Teachers will host a 1-hour optional Google Meet for any academic assistance needed
– The time of the optional Meet will be included in the teacher email to parents (K-12th grade) and students (7th-12th grade)

How will attendance work?
(1st-12th grade)

–  Teachers will post an attendance question on their Google Classroom. Students should answer this question by midnight of the E-Learning Day. Secondary students should answer the attendance question for each class.
–  Teachers will adjust attendance in Skyward the next day for the E-Learning Day. A student is "present" if they do any ONE or more of the following:
     • Answer the attendance question on Google Classroom by midnight
     • Turn in the online assignment
     • Join the optional Meet session

(PreK & Kindergarten)
– Attendance will be determined by completion of an assignment from the "Blizzard Bag"

Will there be Homebound?
– They will be held on E-Learning days and will begin no sooner than 2:00 pm

Will there be Evening Academy?
– Evening Academy students will participate in E-Learning days. Instructions from their teacher will be sent prior to 4:00 p.m.
