Mr. DePew began teaching in the Granite City School District in the fall of 1990. He has served as a Teacher, Coach, Department Chair, Athletic Director, and Principal at Granite City High School for the majority of his career. Only three of his years of service have been spent in another building, Grigsby Junior High School. Following his graduation from Granite City North High School in 1983, he attended the University of Illinois for two years and then Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where he received his B.S. Degree in Education. In 2008, Mr. DePew earned a Master of Arts in Education Degree from McKendree University. He began serving as Principal of Granite City High School in 2014, where he continues serving today.
Mr. DePew has been married to his wife Tammy since 1988, they have two grown children, Samantha and Jacob. His daughter Samantha is married to her husband Justin Hubbard and is a counselor at Granite City High School. Jacob is currently married and a former minor-league baseball player in the Boston Red Sox System.
